To further Virginia Tech's sustainability efforts and its mission to be green and lower its carbon footprint, Dining Services has implemented a "Reusable To-Go" program that involves reusable water bottles and reusable to-go containers.
Reusable Water Bottles
Custom Camelbak water bottles are available for purchase at almost every dining establishment (see full list below) for $13.49. Customers can get free water with this bottle and a $0.10 discount on sodas.
Virginia Tech Dining Services bottles can be purchased at Owens Food Court, Hokie Grill, Wired at West End Market, Dolci e Caffe at Turner Place DXpress, D2 and Burger '37.
Reusable To-Go Containers
What is the Reusable To-Go program?
Reusable To-Go containers can be used instead of compostable to-go containers. This is an excellent way to reduce the amount of materials that are being sent to the landfill and reduce your carbon footprint. At this time, our Reusable To-Go program is being offered at West End Market, Owens Food Court and Turner Place.
How does it work?
Step 1: Order food at register and ask cashier for your meal in a Reusable To-Go container. Pay for your meal with Hokie Passport and one Reusable To-Go container will be checked out from your account. You can use up to three as long as you continue to return them.
Step 2: Take food to-go. Take it anywhere! Share your adventures with #VTReusable
Step 3: Bring container back to Ozzi machine in West End Market, Owens Food Court or Turner Place. Follow instructions on Ozzi machine. Once you return the container, a credit will be put back on your account and you will get an email showing how many containers you have.
Step 4: Repeat steps 1-3 as many times as you'd like!
Reusable To-Go containers are only available at select locations. All dishes in West End Market, Owens Food Court and Turner Place that are served in 9 inch to-go containers can be served in Reusable To-Go containers. Containers are available until Reading Day of each semester. This allows enough time for all checked out containers to be returned before the dining centers close.
Please note: All students, faculty and staff can have 3 Reusable To-Go containers out at a time. If you want to use more than 3 Reusable To-Go containers at a time, you will be charged $3.50 flex or $7.00 cash per container. Any lost or non-returned containers will be charged to your account at the end of each semester at the same rate.
