Looking to grow your culinary skills so you can make more than just a dinner reservation?
As you may have heard in the media, Virginia Tech students enjoy an industry leading dining experience during their time at college. Virginia Tech Dining Services would like to share our award-winning facilities and skills with you and your family!
Registration and Payment for Culinary Camps
- Week-long Camps (5 days) - $450 / person
- Mini-Camps (3 days) - $250 / person
INCLUDED: Daily meals and an authentic chef coat, hat, and reusable water bottle.
Full payment is due upon registering for a camp. To cancel your registration and receive your payment back, you must cancel before May 1st. No refunds are given after May 1.
Daily Schedule
Week-long Camps (5 days)
- Monday — Friday
- 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.*
- Pick-up and drop-off available at 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.*
Mini-Culinary Camps (3 days)
- Tuesday — Thursday
- 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.*
- Pick-up and drop-off available at 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.*
Mini-Culinary Camps
New for 2023! Mini-Culinary Camps offer the same great experience from Virginia Tech Dining Services, but are packaged into shorter, more action-filled days!
Holiday Cookie Camp (Mini) — $250
July 18-20, 2023 - Limited to 10 spots. (Bookings Full)
Campers will make a variety of cookies in this halfway-to-the-holidays camp. Make dough, decorate, create icings, fruit fillings, and more! Sugar, eggs, and flour will be plentiful in the kitchen.
Length: 3 Days
- Limited to ages 10-12 years old.
Science of Food Camp (Mini) — $250
May 30–June 1, 2023 - Limited to 12 spots.
Campers will learn the science behind their food. How does yeast make bread rise? What item can you add to your recipe to get it to bind together? Find out under the direction of our Chefs!
Length: 3 Days

Culinary Camp 100 — $450
June 5-9, 2023 - Limited to 12 spots. (Bookings Full)
July 10-14, 2023 - Limited to 12 spots. (Bookings Full)
Virginia Tech Chefs lead kitchen basics, cooking techniques, nutrition, food safety, and more.
Length: 5 Days
- Limited to ages 10-12 years old.
Campers will:
- Gain hands-on culinary training;
- Learn to prepare different meals;
- Learn kitchen and food safety;
- Tour the kitchen facilities
- Learn about nutrition
- and much, much more!

Culinary Camp 200 — $450
June 19-23, 2023 - Limited to 12 spots. (Bookings Full)
Virginia Tech Chefs teach advanced cooking techniques, food safety, knife skills, and more.
Length: 5 Days
- Limited to ages 13-18 years old.
Campers will:
- gain hands-on culinary training
- learn advanced techniques on grilling, tempering, roasting, and more
- learn kitchen and food safety
- and much, much more!

Culinary Camp — $450
Baking / Desserts Edition
June 12-16, 2023 - Limited to 10 spots. (Bookings Full)
Virginia Tech Chefs teach basic baking skills, bread making techniques, chocolate tempering, and more.
Length: 5 Days
- Limited to ages 13-18 years old.
Campers will:
- Learn about Baking Ingredients, equipment and culinary math
- Basic and classical cakes
- Quick bread and yeast breads
- Pastry and chocolates
- Individual desserts

Culinary Camp — $450
Food Truck Edition
July 24-28, 2023 - Limited to 10 spots. (Bookings Full)
Campers create menus and learn how to cook on one of Virginia Tech Dining Services' state-of-the-art food trucks. Campers compete with each other to see who can prepare, market, and serve the best dish during this camp.
Length: 5 Days
- Limited to ages 14-18 years old.
IMPORTANT: All Culinary Camps are day camps, no overnight accommodations are provided. Virginia Tech Dining Services provides trained camp counselors to ensure the safety of your campers. All camps require long periods of standing in kitchen environments, and campers are expected to try all foods prepared unless there are food allergies or intolerance concerns.
Campers and staff are required to follow all additional sanitation and safety guidelines, including masking and distancing guidelines when needed to comply with VT, local, state, and/or federal guidelines.
